Spread the love

Introduction: Is This You?
You want to be happy but don’t know how.

Your life has drastically changed due to a disability or loss.

You want to restart your life, but you’re not sure if you can.

You feel pressured by the idea of “making up your mind.”

If any of these sound like you, this article is for you.
As someone who became severely disabled later in life, I’m sharing my real experiences and what I’ve learned about living honestly, rebuilding life, and choosing happiness.

[Key Message] If You Want to Be Happy, Make Up Your Mind
Many people wish to be happy.
But in reality, they don’t know where to begin or feel stuck in place.

I’ve been there too.
After becoming severely disabled, it felt like my life’s map was burned and my compass broken.

But through that experience, I learned one powerful truth:

“Making up your mind” doesn’t mean never wavering—it means living honestly, even through confusion.

That honest decision is what gives you the power to restart your life again and again.

What to Do First If You Want to Be Happy
Listen to Your Inner Voice
If you want to be happy, the first step is to ask yourself:
“What do I truly value right now?”

For me:

I chose to value “working in my own way” over just “returning to society.”

I took a chance on blogging and counseling as my new path.

Making Up Your Mind Isn’t About Never Changing
Here’s a common misunderstanding:

Making up your mind = Never changing your decision

That’s not true.

Life is unpredictable.
That’s why the real courage is in allowing yourself to change your mind again and again.

Why You Can Restart Your Life Anytime
1. No Experience Is Wasted
Every past decision—even “failures”—becomes material for your next choice.
The more you restart, the more clearly you understand yourself.

2. You Learn More About Who You Really Are
Every time you choose again, you get closer to your authentic self.
It’s not about reaching a perfect answer—it’s about knowing what matters to you.

3 Tips for Living Honestly with Yourself
1. Don’t Look for the Perfect Answer
There’s no “correct” life path.
What matters most is what feels right to you in this moment.

2. Don’t Be Afraid of Small Steps
It’s not big decisions that change your life—it’s small actions.
For me, writing blog posts and stepping into counseling were those small yet powerful actions.

3. Listen to the Voices That Support You
Words of encouragement from others can become your greatest strength.
I’ve been saved many times by the comments and messages I received.

My Story: The Moment I Truly Felt “I Can Still Be Happy”
I had a stroke that left the left side of my body paralyzed.
It completely changed how I live and move.
But I truly felt happiness when:

I kept living honestly—even when I was lost or afraid.

Writing blog posts, studying counseling, going back to work—each was a new beginning.
And every time I made up my mind again, I felt a small sense of peace and strength.

FAQ
Q: I feel guilty about changing my mind so often.
A: That’s okay.
People change. In fact, trying to stay the same forever is more unnatural.

Q: I feel like I’ve already given up on happiness.
A: You haven’t.
Just look for the smallest hope today.
Even something like, “The breeze feels nice today” can be the first step toward change.

Summary: Your Life Can Begin Again, Anytime
If you want to be happy, make up your mind to live honestly.

“Making up your mind” means having the courage to change direction.

It’s okay to waver. It’s okay to be afraid. Life can be restarted again and again.

I’m still on my journey, just like you.
But I want you to know that you are not alone in wanting to be happy.
