Hello! As a mid-career counselor with a severe disability, I’d like to share a new goal I’ve set for the coming year.
This year, I donated 5% of my income to an organization that supports children. While this was a significant challenge for me financially, I found great fulfillment in knowing I was helping brighten the future for these children. Now, I’ve decided to double that amount next year and aim to donate 10% of my income.
Why am I doing this, and how do I plan to achieve it? Let me share my thoughts with you.
What Donations Have Taught Me
Until recently, I was entirely focused on just getting by. As someone living with a disability, increasing my income has always been a challenge, and donations seemed out of reach. However, my perspective changed when I learned about the hardships faced by children who lack adequate support.
Hearing stories about children who cannot access education, are separated from their families, or are losing hope in their future deeply moved me. I wanted to do something to help. That’s when I started donating, even if it was just a small amount.
The 5% I donated this year wasn’t insignificant for me. Yet, seeing reports from the organization and the smiles of the children they help made me realize the profound impact my contribution could have. My donations weren’t just “money”—they were a source of hope and possibility for these children.
Why Increase to 10%?
As someone who has benefited greatly from the support of others, I feel a deep sense of responsibility to give back. The assistance I’ve received has allowed me to continue working and pursuing my goals. Now, I want to extend that same support to children who need it.
I’ve also realized that giving back to society adds meaning to my own life. Donations are not merely financial transactions; they are transformative acts that can change lives and enrich one’s own sense of purpose.
While aiming to donate 10% of my income is a bold and challenging goal, I’m inspired by the thought of the smiles and hope it can bring to children. It’s this vision that motivates me to push forward.
Taking on the Challenge to Earn More
To meet this goal, I need to strategically increase my income. It’s not just about working harder; it’s about working smarter and exploring new opportunities.
1. Stepping Up from Counseling to Coaching
Drawing on my experience as a counselor, I plan to transition into coaching next year. By offering tailored programs that help clients achieve their goals and realize their potential, I hope to expand my impact and income.
I’m planning to introduce online coaching and group sessions to meet a variety of needs. Additionally, I aim to develop specialized coaching programs for people with disabilities and their families, providing deeper value through personalized support.
2. Monetizing My Blog
Blogging has been my life’s work, and I intend to take it to the next level by focusing on monetization. By enhancing SEO strategies and leveraging social media, I aim to reach a wider audience. I’ll also utilize affiliate marketing and ad placements to create a steady revenue stream.
3. Exploring New Ventures
I’m considering writing eBooks and offering courses based on my experiences. By sharing my journey as someone living with a disability, I hope to inspire others and create new sources of income.
The Power of Support and Empathy
I know I cannot achieve this challenge alone. The support of everyone who follows my work and the encouragement from those who resonate with my message will be essential. Your comments, shares, and kind words will empower me to move forward.
In Closing
A donation might seem like a small act, but it carries the potential to bring smiles and hope to countless lives. I want to be part of this change, and I’m committed to giving it my all next year.
If this story inspires you to take action in your own way, I would be truly grateful. Together, let’s create a brighter future.
Thank you for your support!
