Are You Struggling with a Sense of Emptiness in Life?
Have you ever asked yourself, “Why am I living?” Caught up in the busyness of work and daily life, you might find yourself feeling empty. In those moments, how can we fill that void?
In this article, I will share insights on how to find meaning in life based on my personal experiences. Through four key aspects—”Support from My Wife,” “Identity as a Disabled Person,” “A Sense of Mission to Society,” and “Connection with Shinto”—I will explore ways to fill the emptiness in our hearts.
1. The Presence of My Wife as a Life Support
When I was at my lowest point in life, my greatest support was my wife.
After becoming disabled, I lost my sense of self-worth and thought, “Am I no longer of any use to anyone?” However, my wife stood by me and told me, “You are fine just as you are.” Those words saved me more than I can express.
Feeling loved brings hope to life.If you have a partner, cherish their presence and appreciate the time you spend together.
2. Accepting My Identity as a Disabled Person
Accidents and illnesses come without warning. I, too, had to start a new life as a person with a disability.
At first, I focused only on what I had lost. However, when I began to see what I could do now, I found new value in myself.
When I started sharing my experiences through blogging, I began receiving messages like, “Your words gave me courage.”
Disability is not a handicap; it is an opportunity to gain a new perspective.Rather than dwelling on what you have lost, focus on what you can do now.
3. A Sense of Mission to Society Becomes a Driving Force
Feeling that “I am contributing to society” gives life a sense of purpose.
Through blogging and counseling, I share information and support others with similar struggles. As I continue, my sense of purpose in life becomes clearer.
Using your experiences to help others brings fulfillment.Finding a way to contribute to society is the key to enriching your life.
4. Shinto Brings Peace of Mind
Shinto philosophy emphasizes “harmony with nature.”
Looking up at the sky, listening to the wind, and smelling the trees help me feel “I am alive here and now.”Additionally, the belief in Shinto that “everyone is born with a purpose” has greatly helped me find meaning in life.
Accepting life’s events and maintaining inner peace.Finding balance with nature and spiritual support can help restore mental stability.
