As this year comes to a close, I find myself reflecting deeply on all that has transpired. This time of year always inspires gratitude, but this year, in particular, I feel an overwhelming sense of appreciation for all of you who have been part of my journey.
When I first started blogging, I never imagined that so many people would take the time to read my words. Becoming a mid-career individual with a severe disability, I had to rebuild my life from scratch. Writing became a precious opportunity to reflect on my experiences and express my thoughts. Every word I shared was written with the hope that someone, somewhere, might resonate with my story or find a spark of encouragement in it.
Blogging has become my “life’s work.” It’s more than just a hobby or a job—it’s a purpose I’ve discovered within my life. Through this platform, I’ve been able to reconnect with society and rediscover the meaning of living. Sharing my experiences and thoughts as someone with a severe disability has allowed me to connect with others in ways that bring immense joy and fulfillment. This life’s work has given me the courage to embrace my new role in the world.
Looking back on this year, I’ve been deeply touched by the messages, comments, and kind words of support you’ve shared. Your encouragement has been my daily source of motivation and the reason I’ve been able to keep writing. There were times when I felt that my words offered comfort or companionship to someone facing their own struggles, and that realization gave me new strength to keep going.
This year also gave me the opportunity to reflect deeply on the concept of “the joy of living.” What does joy mean to me? Of course, my family, friends, and the connection I’ve built with all of you through this blog are significant sources of joy. But I’ve also discovered that joy is found in the little moments of daily life—feeling the changing seasons, recognizing my personal growth, or even just experiencing a fleeting sense of peace. These small but meaningful joys are what sustain us.
Living with a severe disability is not without its challenges, but I’ve come to understand that joy can be found even in the midst of those difficulties. Sharing this realization with all of you through my blog has been a great source of encouragement for me as well. Joy is not something extraordinary; it’s hidden within the fabric of everyday life. I hope this message has resonated with you over the past year.
Finally, to all of my readers who have supported me along the way, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your support allows me to continue this life’s work. Moving forward, I’ll keep sharing my honest and authentic thoughts with you, hoping to foster even more meaningful connections.
As you reflect on your own year, I encourage you to take a moment to discover the joys that exist in your life. And may we continue this journey together in the coming year.
With heartfelt gratitude,
To all the readers I’ve met through this life’s work: may the end of this year bring you peace, and may the new year bring you happiness.
